Wisconsin Fair Employment Law Poster Mandatory
The Fair Employment Law is a Wisconsin equal opportunity law poster provided for businesses by the Wisconsin Department Of Workforce Development. This is a required poster for all Wisconsin employers, and any business that fails to post this notification may be subject to penalties or fines.
This poster discusses the rules and regulations set by the State of Wisconsin concerning fair employment in the State. These policies are enumerated in the Wisconsin Fair Employment Law and enforcement of them by the State is underwritten by the same piece of legislation.
More specifically, the poster notes, it is unlawful to discriminate against employees or job applicants because of their: Sex, color, ancestry, disability, marital status, race, creed, age, use of goods or services (legal ones), arrest or conviction, honesty testing, national origin, pregnancy or childbirth, sexual orientation, genetic testing, or military service.
Anyone who feels they have been discriminated against on the basis of one or more of these criteria or for any other reason is encouraged to contact the Equal Rights Division of the State of Wisconsin's Department of Workforce Development.
ERD-4531- P (R. 06/2020) Wisconsin Fair Employment Law Section 111.31-111.395 Wisconsin Statutes and DWD 218 Wisconsin Administrative Code requires that all employers prominently display this Poster in all places of employment. It is unlawful to discriminate against employees and job applicants because of their: • Sex • Use of Lawful Products • Color • Arrest or Conviction • Ancestry • Honesty Testing • Disability • National Origin • Marital Status • Pregnancy or Childbirth • Race • Sexual Orientation • Creed (Religion) • Genetic Testing • Age (40 or Over) • Military Service • Declining to Attend a Meeting or Participate in any Communication About Religious or Political Matters This law applies to employers, employment agencies, labor unions and licensing agencies. Employers may not require certain t ypes of honesty testing or genetic testing as a condition of employment, nor discipline an employee because of the results. Employees may not be harassed in the workplace based on their protected status nor retaliated against for filing a complaint, for assisting with a complaint, or for opposing discrimination in the workplace. There is a 300- day time limit for filing a discrimination complaint.
